About the Campaign

Eve Rodsky's manual book Fair Play is a time-and-anxiety-saving system that offers couples a completely new way to divvy up chores and responsibilities. Rodsky interviewed more than five hundred men and women from all walks of life to figure out what the invisible work in a family actually entails and how to get it all done efficiently. With four easy-to-follow rules, 100 household tasks, and a series of conversation starters for you and your partner, Fair Play helps you prioritize what’s important to your family and who should take the lead on every chore from laundry to homework to dinner.

Impact Goal

Foster meaningful dialogue about gender equality, invisible labor, and rebalancing domestic responsibilities by introducing new audiences to the Fair Play system and encouraging them to use it within their own lives. Increase awareness around Fair Play’s Home Eq[uity] Curriculum via sharing and promoting to parents and educators, and celebrating the many ways community members could come together to close the “chore gap” and build more equitable societies at home and in school.

STRATEGY

1
Conduct strategic outreach to professional women’s groups, women-lead organizations, media companies, and other community stakeholders and invite them to host a private Zoom call with author Eve Rodsky to introduce them to Fair Play.
2
Collaborate with organizations to develop a virtual conversation with Eve Rodsky that best suits their needs.
3
Held strategic conversations with leading national and regional organizations and institutions focused on home economics, gender equity, and youth empowerment.
4
Conducted outreach to parents, educators, youth leaders, youth programs, school districts, and influencers to share details about the curriculum, and encourage them to sign up to commit to implementing it with their respective group.
5
Created and distributed a Home Eq[uity] Values One Pager, to create a stronger alignment with core values that ladder up to those backed by nationally recognized institutions ie. Family Consumer Sciences.
6
Developed and executed a Week of Action digital campaign to encourage curriculum implementation sign ups, which included daily prompts around gender equity in the home, and select giveaways for participants.

Other Campaigns

Increase awareness around the epidemic of childhood drowning in the U.S., promote awareness around the film via its digital release and screening tour, educate audiences around preventative measures and actions, and rally support around legislative action that pushes for water-safety.

Extend the reach of Searchlight Pictures' outdoor concert event planned for Juneteenth and the wide release of the film on July 2 by partnering with local organizations and activists to screen the film for their communities. Above all, we wanted to honor the Harlem Cultural Festival’s sound of freedom by creating community screening events that spark joy.
